Crystal Spread

Tarot Cards - Crystal Spread

This spread is ideal for probing deeper into any question, and will show you the dynamics of the energies currently at work within a given situation.

1. Current Dynamics
2. Inner Feelings/Thoughts
3. Best Course of Action
4. Outcome

An Example: (A friend of mine wanted to know if her ex partner intended to contact her in the near future. They are currently estranged with neither wanting to make the first move.)

1. Four of Swords
2. Lovers
3. Two of Cups
4. Nine of Swords

The problems within the relationship are immediately evident by the presence of two sword cards, combined with cards denoting affairs of the heart.

Card 1 (Four of Swords) describes the absence of communication between herself and her ex partner. The two of them have not spoken for a while, preferring to take a break from each other's company, allowing them space to contemplate and re-charge their batteries. Someone may actually be deliberately *playing dead* in a relationship, possibly because they do not have the energy right now to fight their own corner. It has to be noted that this is not a *break up* card, and any separation falling under its influence will be of a temporary nature.

Card 2 (Lovers) tells of a solid connection between the two people involved, and that a mutual attraction exists between them. This powerful bond makes it difficult to completely cut the ties that bind them together. Even though they have not been in communication, their inner thoughts are still drawn to the connection that they both share. A soulmate attachment is indicated, and further confirmed by the next card. The time spent apart may help them to realise how much they miss the other. The card is one of sexual energy and intimacy. Whether they care to admit it on the surface, these two are still very much *together* even though they are currently apart.

Card 3 (Two of Cups) advises that some kind of conversation needs to take place where they can sort things out and get the relationship back on track. There is still an obvious mutual attraction between them both, although neither of them are prepared to admit it at the moment. There is enough feeling invested on both parts to resolve this current rift between them. It only takes one person to say they are sorry, and open up the channels of communication for new dialogue. They may be forced to be open and tell each other exactly how the other feels. One of them needs to reach out to the other and apologise, so that the situation can begin healing.

Card 4 (Nine of Swords) does not bode well for the outcome of the relationship. It tells of fear and worry that may have grown in to a monster. Someone (or both) may be worrying necessarily about the situation in question, unable to step outside of it, for fear of making the situation worse, and stirring it all up again. Instead of fretting about it, do something to change the situation. Someone within the union is being incredibly hard on themselves, and may even feel guilty for past misbehaviours. Nothing is done to heal the rift because those involved feel disempowered, and unable to communicate. This union is so filled with issues that it may feel impossible to find common ground again. But given that nobody is prepared to face their fears and step out of the safety of their cave, there will be no immediate resolution in this situation.

Conclusion

The advice given in Card 3 will not be taken (judging by the outcome), there is too much fear (of rejection maybe) of stirring up the peace and quiet, and facing the issues head on. The situation will continue to give both parties a sense of anxiety, and nothing will be resolved, as both parties continue with the inactivity of Card 1. This is a real shame because deep feelings of attachment still exist between these two lovers, and both thinks of the other daily, with a mixture of love (Card 2) and disdain (Card 4). Unless this estrangement can be resolved, there will be sleepless nights and negative internalisation for one or both of the individuals involved.

Sex In The Tarot

Tarot Cards - Sex

Sex is a subject that everyone seems to want to talk about these days, and the Tarot Cards are no different. If your question relates to a physical relationship, then the following cards will help you to determine the sexual dynamics of the impending encounter:

The Lovers
This card brings an encounter with someone you are closely bonded to, maybe a married spouse or someone that you feel a great affinity for. The energy in this card tells of an interaction that just oozes with chemistry.

Ace of Wands
A card of virility and the building of sexual tension between two potential lovers.  A passionate sexual encounter is on the horizon, most likely with a brand new lover. The Ace is a strong, phallic symbol burning with desire.

Strength
This card denotes the battling of strong urges using strength of character. Animalistic desires may rise to the surface , and need to be kept in check. Powerful feelings of lust are present when this card falls in conjunction with other cards signifying an intimate encounter.

The Devil
The *darker* side of sex is denoted by this card. It encumbers everything from obsession, bondage, an illicit rendezvous to sexual violence and abuse. This is the destructive, unhealthy relationship that is both tantalisingly addictive and extremely damaging.

Relationship Spread (Five Cards)

Relationship Spread

1. Current Dynamics/Issues
2. How He/She Relates To You (Feels About You)
3. How You Relate To Him/Her (Feel About Him/Her)
4. Are You Compatible? (Advice Card)
5. Is There A Future? (Outcome)

Example (reading for a female friend who has just met a new guy and is considering a relationship with him)

1. The Moon

2. Two of Wands (Reversed)
3. Nine of Cups (Reversed)
4. Three of Wands (Reversed)
5. The Pope

Interpretation

Card 1 (The Moon) can denote a warning that things may not be what they seem on the surface. There is an element of evasiveness surrounding this new relationship. Her intuition may already be telling her that *something is not right* - now would be a good time to trust her gut reaction.

Card 2 (Two of Wands Reversed) is called the Cinderella Card. This denotes someone who doesn't feel *good enough* to be going to the ball. Someone who is lacking in confidence, or self esteem is indicated. Long distance relationships go awry under the influence of this card.

Card 3 (Nine of Cups Reversed) tells us any feelings she has towards this man are of a superficial nature. If her lover is especially good looking, this will serve to flatter her ego. Although there may be amorous antics in the bedroom, there will be no depth of feeling within this relationship. This could be a *friends with benefits* type union.

Card 4 (Three of Wands Reversed) says this couple are moving in different directions, their goals in life do not compliment each other. There may be a lack of growth within the union. This card is quite often called *the rebound card* - one of them could return to an ex partner. This card does not bode well for long distance relationships.

Card 5 (The Pope) tells us that any future between these two people would need to be of a traditional or conventional nature. I feel that they would quickly become very bored of each other. Although a committed relationship, even marriage, might present itself when this card falls in a reading , it may not be a very happy one.

Soul Mates In The Tarot

Tarot Cards - Soulmates

After reading Tarot Cards for over twenty years, the questions that I am predominantly presented with are those concerning Love, Romance and the Soulmate. Everybody wants to find that *special somebody* with whom you feel a deep affinity.

I have compiled a list of cards that may indicate the presence of the soulmate in a Tarot reading.

The Lovers
This would be the most obvious card to represent a strong bond formed with a soulmate. It tells of an attraction that will be all-consuming on a physical level. It can foretell the start of a great love affair (depending on surrounding cards). This card speaks of an intense and passionate interaction which will be predominantly of a sexual nature.

Six of Cups
This has to be the ultimate soulmate card! (for me). It has a strong connection to the past, and draws on energy from happier times. Strong bonds formed in the past (even from a past life) can re-connect when this card falls in a relationship reading.

Two of Cups
Mutual attraction, sometimes even love at first sight. This card bodes well for those seeking their soulmate at the moment. It tells of the first initial feelings of attraction that come with finding someone that may be on our level. In the majority of cases, these feelings are returned, if the card is upright.

The Star
What you wish for will come true, this card brings hope and light into your love-life. There is a feeling of great happiness, and the future suddenly looks much brighter (for love). Someone for whom you have a great affinity for, will enter your life unexpectedly, bringing good news.

Ace of Cups
This is a card of true love! It denotes the very beginnings of something wonderful and emotionally fulfilling. Combined with other relationship cards, this card could herald the arrival of a person in your life who could be, quite literally *The One*

The Sun
One of the most positive cards to fall in a reading, it brings positive influences and good news in to your life. In a relationship reading, its presence is a most welcome sight, as it fortels happiness and prosperity in all things.

Infidelity (Cheating) In The Tarot

Tarot Cards - Infidelity

If you see one or more of the following cards in your reading, things may not appear as they seem on the surface. The top cards for cheating are:

The Moon
A card of secrecy and deception, of things happening under the light of the moon, shrouded in shadows and darkness. It can denote clandestine affairs, someone may be trying to pull the wool over your eyes. Beware of the evasiveness of others, and do not take everything you hear as the complete truth.

Seven of Swords
A card of deception. Some could be lying to you, you need to watch (very carefully) the behaviour of others around you. This card sees someone 'getting away' with something they have done behind your back. It is the card of sneaking around and underhand tactics.

Three of Cups (Reversed)
A jovial card when upright, the reversed meaning brings hedonistic qualities into play. Excessive drinking, taking drugs and indulging in illicit sexual endeavours can be denoted by this card. The cheating will nearly always be coupled with some kind of substance abuse (addiction).

Lovers (Reversed)
An illicit affair is denoted, but in this instance there may be a powerful connection between two people who cannot (or shouldn't) be together. Sometimes it could bring a destructive element to the relationship (especially if in conjunction with The Devil card)

The Devil
A tempestuous card bringing an addictive personality in its wake. All forms of debauchery fall under this cards meaning. Its influence is destructive, any affair denoted by this card will be unhealthy and all consuming. Lies are also indicated also.A strong sexual attraction element surrounds this card, there is recklessness and irresponsibility abound.

Nine of Swords

Guilt and worry about an indiscretion that may have occurred are brought to the fore when you see this card. It brings a sense of foreboding and fear of painful issues which may arise as a consequence. This could be the card of the guilty conscience, and the fear for the repercussions of being found out. It may bring guilt at having to cause pain and suffering to another. The worry may keep you awake at night.

Three of Swords

This card brings a love triangle into the reading (especially if in conjunction with The Lovers). Someone may be having an affair, or you may be considering embarking on one yourself. There is definitely a third party within the mix, a Court Card in the reading may shed some light on who this person may be.

The Magician (Reversed)

He is the silver tongued manipulator, capable of telling lies to further his own ends. He may be charming on the surface, but he is capable of great deception and dishonesty.  When he falls in conjunction with the King of Swords (Reversed), this will confirm that you are dealing with a liar and should tread very carefully.

Queen of Cups (Reversed)

This card could represent  'the other woman' in an affair, or even a 'lady of the night' This is a narcissist or an emotional vampire type individual, someone who doesn't care about anyone but herself. She may have issues with addiction or emotional instability herself. She might be someone you know who is jealous of you.

Two of Coins

Whilst the coins are usually indicators of monetary matters, in a romantic reading it can suggest someone who is successfully balancing two situations simultaneously. Depending on the surrounding cards, this could denote be the juggling of two separate relationships. This card also has a fun element attached to it, which may indicate there is a 'player' in your midst.

Nine of Cups (Reversed)

A card of selfish self indulgence and taking good fortune for granted. With this card comes flattery and insincerity. Someone may have duped you and are now feeling pretty smug about it! This is the superficial lover with a materialistic outlook on life, all that really matters to them is self gratifying their own needs.

Ten of Swords

This is a card of being 'stabbed in the back' as the picture denotes, It tells of an act of betrayal by someone you consider a trusted friend or lover. In the aftermath, there will be much pain and destruction which may take a while to recover from. But it will be followed by a period of calm after the storm, where you will be able to begin again in a totally new direction.
