Looking Glass Spread (Four Cards)

 Looking Glass Spread

1. Situation - where you currently stand
2. Obstacles - any challenges to overcome
3. Advice - what should be done
4. Outcome - what will come to pass

Question: Will My Friend Return?

1. Lovers - A situation based on a strong bond between two people is indicated. The friendship is a close one, there may even be undercurrents of physical/sexual attraction between the querent and her absent friend. Her feelings are returned, her friend also has strong, sexual feelings for her. They may have been lovers previously, and have discovered that they share a powerful energy. These two simply adore each other but the passion that they share may also spill over into anger as well as love, and arguments are likely from time to time, if not only to kiss and make up afterwards. There is a real sexual tension between them, they understand each other without having to speak. Neither of them have been able to completely cut the cord that binds them together. This could be a soul-mate connection, it tells of mutual love and a well matched union. (May 21st - June 20th)

2. Knight of Coins - A stubborn individual who watches from afar and makes his mind up slowly. But he does have a sense of loyalty to those whom he loves, and can be found working hard to provide for his/their future. Emotionally immature, he will put money and material things above everything else. He will move slowly into any kind of relationship, needing time to assess before making a move. He cannot be coaxed or forced out of his cave for the time being, any attempts to do so will be met with silent disdain. He has a message for her, and it will be good news ... but for the time being she will just have to wait. It may be that he is currently tied up with work commitments, and does not have either the time nor the energy for her friendship right now! She will hear from him sooner or later, but until that time she needs to be patient.

3. Eight of Coins - She is being advised not to give up just yet, things may seem daunting when nothing is happening, no progress is being made. It is important not to quit now as she is on the cusp of something greater. Her friend is thinking about her rather a lot, rest assured that she is in his thoughts, but work is more important to him right now, and she must respect this, instead of feeling angry and frustrated at waiting for him to contact her. She should look to patch things up with her friend when the opportunity eventually arises, and this in turn will strengthen the bond between them. Heavy workloads may cause issues within this close relationship, and they may not see each other as often as they'd like to because of this. She will have to accept that his work is integral to him, and be flexible with finding the time to spend together. She should perhaps pursue a career or hobby of her own to fill the time spent apart more constructively, rather than focusing all her energy and attention predominantly on him.

4. King of Cups - This man is a compassionate, gentle voice of reason. He exercises restraint when it comes to his emotions, he likes to remain in control at all times. But beneath the surface, there is kindness and understanding if she is willing to scratch the surface. He wants to talk about how he feels (to her), he may possibly confess his feelings described in the first card (The Lovers). Although the querent stressed that this was a platonic relationship she was enquiring about, there seems to be more going on below the surface between them than a simple friendship. He is in love with her (and I'm guessing she feels the same) but at the moment he does not have time for romance, and the demands that it would make on his life. His work takes up most of the space in his head, and although he thinks about her often, and with affection, he is still unsure about the consequences of confessing his true feelings. It's easier to bury his head in his work for the time being, and hide his true feelings behind a calm, aloof exterior. But eventually these will rise to the surface in search of an outlet. He will find self expression and the ability to communicate his growing feelings, and act on them if they are returned.

The answer is Yes - he will return but for the time being he is happy concentrating on his work. However, the bond that they have formed is strong enough to ensure that their paths will cross again at some point in the near future. It is important for her to pursue her own interests during this waiting period, and not focus so much of her energy on his current absence in her life. When he finally returns, their souls will be connected once again. How long that connection will lasts is anybodies guess!

Question: Has My Ex/Lover Met Someone Else?

1. Page of Swords - A younger woman may be indicated, possibly with dark hair and dark eyes. She is very talkative, intelligent and academically gifted. There is communication, in the form of witty banter, between the ex and this young lady, but due to the lack of Cups in the reading, a romance between them at this time seems highly unlikely. They may perhaps be someone who likes to gossip, and get all the latest information, someone he is talking to via the internet, texting or on the telephone. Communications may not go well due to too many questions being asked. There may be a *secret* aspect to this relationship. Any arrangements made to get together may be met with last minute postponement or cancellation. There may be mistrust and evasiveness surrounding them, someone may not be telling the truth.

2. Ten of Wands - Someone who feels burdened within a relationship, and avoiding the impending conflict is becoming more difficult every day. Another blazing argument is likely as the pressure and tension mounts between them. There are other issues besides the relationship to contend with, and therefore he can't give the relationship the undivided commitment and energy that it needs right now to enable it to develop and grow. Someone may feel neglected or abandoned. This is someone who has chosen to avoided getting into any long term relationships because he cannot find time for the *togetherness* aspect of romance. Here is someone trying to avoid shouldering any further stress if possible, and may feel like they're being pulled in several different directions at once.

3. King of Coins - This represents the man in question, the person the question relates to. He is busy building up a business or generally concentrating on his career long term. This is someone who enjoys their profession, and wants to devote 100% to the success of any venture he undertakes. He is setting himself realistic goals and then relentlessly working towards success. He wants to focus on his career. Maybe he needs to take some time out from his work to relax and enjoy the fruits of his labour. If he does not represent the ex lover himself, then he may represent another important male involved in the situation. It could possibly be a friend or relative who may offer advice and guidance. A golden opportunity to enhance love, reputation and bank balance simultaneously may present itself.

4. Death - The end of one phase of life and the beginning of another is foretold. There will be an inevitable change in current circumstances. The door to this phase is now closing, but another will open shortly in a totally new direction. It's time to grieve the losses of the past, and then leave them behind. The time has come to let go of unhealthy attachments and go in search of something new. Things have gone on beyond the point of repair for the seeker and her ex lover, he is moving on with his life, burying his head in his work.

The answer is Yes & No -  The seeker is still attached to her ex lover, and hasn't moved on completely after they parted company. Work commitments and all round tiredness on his part, have got in the way of any chance of a reconciliation, her ex lover just does not have the time, and sees a relationship with her as demanding precious time he does not have at the moment. He does not want to have to endure the endless questions vouching for his whereabouts, he would rather remain single for the time being. But he does seem to be seeking out casual relationships via the internet with not too many strings attached. The objective being sex for the sake of sex. It is time she moved on with her life and let this guy fall into the past. Whatever they once shared has now been lost forever. It's time to open doors in new directions, instead of wasting precious time on someone who has already walked away from the situation.
