Examples(in regards to romance/relationships):

  • Someone who has experienced a traumatic or catastrophic ending, and is suffering feelings of loss and hopelessness as a consequence.
  • Someone who has come to the end of the line with certain situations in love, and can no longer cope.
  • Someone who is being forced to pull their head out of the sand and face up to a harsh reality.
  • Someone who is in complete shock, and can hardly take in the circumstances surrounding them.
  • Someone who has hit *rock bottom* and is feeling depressed, and unable to get out of bed in the mornings.
  • Someone who is suffering from chronic fatigue, and is unable to function properly on a day to day basis. 
  • Someone who socially has become a recluse, refusing the answer the door or the telephone.
  • Someone who feels as though they have lost everything, all their hard work and effort has come to nothing.
  • Someone who is having to face up to a failed relationship, there may have been cheating and betrayal
  • Someone who is in a violent or abusive relationship. This includes verbal, emotional or physical abuse.
  • Someone who is witness to (or the perpetrator of) raging and angry behaviour, they may even lash out.
  • Someone who is involved in a painful separation or divorce.
